LIVONIAN TRAP
MIKS ZANDIS
Year 1210… Year of the decisive battle of the indigenous peoples of the Baltic sea with the German order of the Brothers of the Sword for Riga. The slaughter of the German ship that had been lured into the trap was ruthless and bloody, and the loot was rich. The elder of the coast pirates, Ugo, plucking a jeweled cross from the chest of a noble traveler, could not even imagine what role an expensive trinket could play in the future fate of Livonia. To strengthen the Alliance of the Livs against the conquering crusaders, who demand not only taxes, but also the rejection of their gods, the elder must marry the beautiful Leia - the sister of the leader of the Livs. But at home, a bride is already waiting for Ugo, and the best Archer and inventor Ivo is in love with Leia. At the same time intrigues are being wove among the Germans around the founder of Riga - bishop Albert…

The author surprisingly managed to combine the fabric of an exciting narrative with the deepest artistic insight into real historical events, which is colored by legends, ancient customs, rituals, conspiracies and passions of the characters.

Based on piecemeal facts, the unique exploration of these events makes the novel interesting not only for history fans, but also for professionals.
